Rounds & Scoring

A round is a collection of matches played under the same format and scoring rules. You can have multiple rounds in one tournament (e.g. Round 1, Round 2, Finals).

Creating a Round

In the Rounds tab of your tournament admin panel, click Create Round:

  1. Enter a round name (e.g. "Round 1", "Semi-Final")
  2. Choose a Format
  3. Configure the Scoring options
  4. Save

Rounds can be created while the tournament is in Draft, Registration, or In Progress. They cannot be added once the tournament is Completed.

Formats

Not sure which format to choose? See the Tournament Types guide for a detailed comparison and step-by-step setup for each format.

Americano (Padel only)

Each round, players are randomly paired with a new partner. Everyone plays, standings are cumulative across rounds.

Scoring options:

  • Point target — the match ends when the combined score of both sides reaches this number (e.g. 21, 24, 32)
  • Split points (default) — each player keeps their own side's score. In a 24-point match ending 15–9, team A players each get 15 pts, team B players each get 9 pts
  • Winner takes all — winners take the full point target, losers get 0

Mexicano (Padel only)

Round 1 is random like Americano. From Round 2 onward, the current leaderboard determines pairings — the top-ranked players are paired together on the same court. Scoring options are the same as Americano.

Tennis

Fixed teams play traditional tennis with games and sets.

OptionChoices
Games per set4, 6, or 8
Sets to win1, 2, or 3
TiebreakOn (standard tiebreak at 6-6) or Off
Super TiebreakOn (10-point deciding game) — typical for padel
No AdvantageOn = no deuce, first player to reach game point wins
For Tennis sport tournaments, only the Tennis format is available. For Padel tournaments, all three formats are available.

Generating Matches

After creating a round, click Generate Matches:

Player Source

  • All confirmed players (default) — everyone confirmed for the tournament is included
  • Winners of Round N — only players/teams who won in a specified completed round advance

Skill Level Filter

Optionally restrict generation to players tagged as Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced.

Court Configuration

  • Assign now — enter how many courts to use; matches are numbered Court 1, 2, 3, etc.
  • Assign later — matches are created without court numbers; you assign courts manually per match

Preview Before Confirming

All generation is two-step:

  1. Click Preview — the system shows you exact pairings without saving anything
  2. Review the matchups
  3. Click Confirm to generate and save the matches

If you do not like the preview, click Regenerate to get a new random arrangement.

Standings Modes

Controlled by the Standings Mode setting on the tournament:

This also determines how Mexicano seeding works in rounds 2 and beyond.
