Qualifier → Finals
A parent / child structure lets you run several independent qualifier tournaments — at different venues or on different dates — and then bring their best finishers together into a single finals tournament. The finals is the parent; each qualifier is a child. When the children finish, their top placers advance into a knockout draw in the parent.
Example: Jakarta Open, Bandung Open, and Surabaya Open each run on their own weekend. The top 4 of each then advance into the National Finalsknockout bracket.
How it fits together
| Term | What it is |
|---|---|
| Parent (finals) | The tournament that hosts the final knockout draw. You manage children and seed qualifiers from its Finals tab. |
| Child (qualifier) | An ordinary tournament that runs on its own. Once attached, its header shows a “Feeds into” link back to the parent. |
| Qualifier | A top finisher that advanced from a child into the parent. It becomes a confirmed participant in the parent, keeping the same player identity and stats. |
Step 1 — Attach child tournaments
- Open the tournament that will be your finals and go to the Finals tab.
- Use Add a child tournament to attach an existing tournament you manage. Only tournaments of the same sport can be attached.
- Set top N for each child — how many finishers should advance from it by default.
A child must share the parent's sport, and a tournament can only sit one level deep — a child cannot itself have children. You can detach a child at any time.
Step 2 — Create the finals knockout draw
In the parent's Draws tab, create a Knockout draw sized for your qualifiers (e.g. an 8- or 16-slot bracket). This is the round the qualifiers will be seeded into. See Draws & Knockout for details.
Step 3 — Seed the qualifiers
Back in the Finals tab, under Generate finals draw:
- Choose the entry type — Individuals or Pairs/Teams.
- Pick the target knockout round.
- Choose how qualifiers are selected:
- Auto top-N — takes the top N from each child's final standings. The child must be completed for auto selection.
- Manual — hand-pick exactly which finishers advance and arrange their seed order.
- Click Preview to see the seeded bracket, with each slot labelled by where it came from (e.g. “Jakarta Open #2”).
- Click Confirm draw to inject the qualifiers as confirmed participants and fill the bracket.
How seeding works
In auto mode, qualifiers from different children are interleaved so the top finishers of two children can't meet in the first round. In manual mode the order you choose is used exactly as the seed order.
Re-running the draw is safe: existing qualifiers are reused (a player who already qualified isn't duplicated), and the provenance list is refreshed. If a child's standings changed, just preview and confirm again.
After the draw
The finals now contains confirmed participants and a populated knockout bracket — score it like any other knockout tournament. The Finals tab keeps a Qualifiedlist showing who advanced and from which child.
