Worked Example: Americano — 12-Player Saturday Social

Scenario

A padel club runs a Saturday morning social. 12 players sign up for a casual doubles event on 3 courts. Players rotate partners every match so everyone plays with and against different people. Individual points accumulate across all matches — the player with the most points at the end wins.

Step 1: Create the Tournament

  1. Go to Dashboard → New Tournament
  2. Select Americano as the tournament type
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Name: “Saturday Social”
    • Sport: Padel
    • Club: Your club
  4. Schedule: 1 day (Saturday), 3 courts, 9:00–12:00, 20-minute matches
  5. Create the tournament — you land on the Overview tab

Step 2: Open Registration & Add Players

  1. Click Open Registration to move from Draft → Registration
  2. Invite players or let them self-register. For this example, 12 players join:
    • Alex, Bella, Carlos, Diana, Erik, Fatima
    • George, Hana, Ivan, Julia, Ken, Lina
  3. Confirm all 12 players in the Players tab

Step 3: Create Round 1 (Americano)

  1. Go to the Rounds tab
  2. Click New Round and configure:
    • Round name: “Round 1”
    • Format: Americano
    • Point Target: 24 pts
    • Partners: Random
  3. Player Source: All confirmed participants (12 players)
  4. Courts: 3 courts, 20-minute duration, 5-minute gap
  5. Click Preview — the system shows all pairings before creating them
  6. Review and click Generate

Step 4: What Gets Generated

The system creates 3 rotations across 3 courts:

CourtRotation 1Rotation 2Rotation 3
Court 1Alex / Bella vs Carlos / DianaAlex / Fatima vs Erik / HanaAlex / Julia vs Ivan / Lina
Court 2Erik / Fatima vs George / HanaBella / George vs Carlos / IvanBella / Diana vs Erik / Ken
Court 3Ivan / Julia vs Ken / LinaDiana / Ken vs Julia / LinaCarlos / Fatima vs George / Hana

Note: Actual pairings are randomized; this table illustrates the concept. Each player has a different partner every rotation and never faces the same opponent twice.

Step 5: Start the Tournament & Score

  1. Click Start Tournament to move to In Progress
  2. Umpires score matches via QR scan or the Matches tab
  3. Example match result: Alex / Bella 24 – 17 Carlos / Diana
  4. Individual points: Alex +24, Bella +24, Carlos +17, Diana +17

Step 6: Live Standings

After all matches are scored, the leaderboard shows each player's accumulated points. Standings are computed live from match results — no manual calculation needed.
