Player Management
Players must have a Recourt account to participate in a tournament. There are two ways to get players in: they request to join, or you invite them directly.
Opening Registration
A tournament in Draft is invisible to players. To let players find and request to join:
- Open the tournament admin panel
- Click Open Registration (Draft → Registration)
- Confirm the transition
The tournament is now publicly listed. Players can find it on the Tournaments page and click Request to Join.
This transition is one-way. You cannot move a tournament back to Draft once registration is open.
Player Status Flow
Each participant moves through these statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Requested | Player has asked to join; waiting for admin approval |
| Waitlisted | Admin approved the request; waiting for payment confirmation |
| Confirmed | Player is officially in the tournament |
| Cancellation Requested | A confirmed player has asked to withdraw; appears as an alert in the Confirmed tab pending admin action |
| Rejected | Request was declined |
Approving Players
In the Players tab of your tournament admin panel:
- Open the Requested sub-tab
- Review pending players
- Click Approve to move them to Waitlisted, or Reject to decline
Once payment is confirmed:
- Open the Waitlisted sub-tab
- Click Confirm to move the player to Confirmed
Only Confirmed players appear in standings and are eligible to be included in round generation.
Inviting Players Directly
You can skip the request step entirely by inviting a player directly:
- In the Players tab, click Invite Player
- Search by name or email
- The player receives an invitation on their Invitations page
- When they accept, their status becomes Confirmed immediately — no waitlist step
All participants must have a registered Recourt account. If a player does not have an account yet, ask them to sign up at recourt.id/register first.
Player Limits
Each tournament has a player cap set by its plan (free tournaments allow up to 16 players). If confirming a player would exceed the cap, a Player limit reached prompt appears inline instead of confirming. From there you can:
- Apply an existing credit — pick one of your club's available credits (each shows its player cap and expiry) to raise the limit immediately
- Buy a credit — go to pricing to purchase more capacity
Once a credit is applied, the limit increases and you can finish confirming players.
Key Rules
- A player cannot also be an umpire in the same tournament — these roles are mutually exclusive per event
- Confirmed players count against your plan's player cap — raise it by applying or buying a credit
- You can cancel a confirmed player at any time before the tournament completes
