Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

When something does not look right — a match score seems wrong, a bracket slot is empty, or standings are not updating — this page covers common issues and how to resolve them.

Common Issues

Standings Not Updating

Standings are computed live from score_events — the append-only log of every point scored. If standings appear stale:

Refresh the page — standings may not have received the latest SSE update
Check that the match is completed — in-progress matches do not count toward final standings
Verify the Standings Mode setting on the tournament (Points, Wins, or Both) — this controls the ranking column

Bracket Slot Shows Wrong Player or Empty

For Knockout draws: winners advance automatically when a match finishes. If a slot is empty, the previous match may not be completed yet
For Pools + Knockout: run Seed from pools again after pool results are final — this re-populates the bracket with the latest standings
If a player was removed from the tournament after being placed in a bracket, the slot reverts to a placeholder

Cannot Generate Matches

Check that you have enough confirmed participants — Americano/Mexicano need multiples of 4
For fixed teams: ensure teams are created and have 2 players each
Check the skill level filter — it may be excluding too many players
Courts must exist — check the Courts tab

QR Code Not Working

QR codes are tied to courts and matches — if a match is not assigned to a court, the court QR shows an empty state
Ensure the tournament is In Progress — scoring is disabled in Draft and Registration
For match-specific QR codes, the match must exist and be scheduled or in progress

Score Reversal / Wrong Point

Use the Undo button on the scoring board to revert the last point. There is no limit on undos while the match is in progress. If the match is already completed:

The match is locked — contact a platform administrator to manually correct the score_events log
Prevention: the scoring board asks for confirmation on match-ending points to avoid accidental match completion

Match State Reference

Scheduled	Match is created but not yet started	Yes — first score auto-transitions to In Progress
In Progress	Match is live and being scored	Yes
Completed	Match is finished, score is final	No — read-only

When to Contact Support

Match scores appear correct in the database but wrong in the UI — this may be a caching issue
SSE (live updates) is not working across multiple devices
You need to manually edit a completed match's score events
Data appears corrupted or inconsistent after a migration or deployment
